MIS Program Accreditation: Comparing AACSB and ABET
This paper explores the question of accreditation for MIS Departments located in schools of business. Specifically, it addresses specific requirements of AACSB accreditation and ABET/CAC accreditation that are synergistic, merely compatible, or contradictory. The tentative conclusion is advanced that an MIS department can meet both sets of requirements without unreasonable heroics and that doing so brings benefits to MIS departments.
